Why We Built This

As students, we’ve spent hours looking for study spots with working Wi-Fi, available outlets, and actual quiet spaces.

We realized there wasn’t a dedicated platform for productive environments.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

  • The shift to remote and hybrid setups after the COVID-19 pandemic changed how students and professionals work and study. However, many individuals struggle to stay productive due to distractions and the lack of proper workspaces at home.

This project explores how work environments affect productivity and identifies the workspace preferences of students and remote workers in Makati City and Manila’s University Belt. Based on these findings, Space-Bar was developed to help users easily find coffee shops, coworking spaces, and libraries that support focus and productivity.

  • The objective of this project is to develop Space-Bar, a web platform that helps students and remote workers easily find study and work environments that support productivity.

Through research on post-pandemic work and study habits, the platform identifies the key environmental factors that influence focus, comfort, and efficiency. Using these insights, the website allows users to search and filter spaces such as coffee shops, coworking spaces, and libraries based on features that match their needs.

By making it easier to discover productive environments, the platform aims to support better work habits, improved productivity, and a healthier work–life balance.
  • The platform is designed for college students in Makati and Manila’s University Belt, young professionals, freelancers, and hybrid workers seeking reliable study and work environments outside their homes.

  • This project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Supporting healthier work habits and better work–life balance through productive environments.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Enhancing productivity for students, freelancers, and professionals.

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Encouraging the effective use of urban spaces such as coffee shops, coworking spaces, and libraries for study and work.
